CFP – DevTalks Romania

12 April 2018 devTalks

We are inviting both the local and international developers’ community to submit talks for the upcoming DevTalks Romania events in Cluj (May 11) and Bucharest (June 9). This Call for Presentation closes on March 31.

What is DevTalks?

DevTalks is a premium CEE event for the developers’ community who last year managed to gather over 1500 IT professionals. The topics discussed on the 4 stages are diverse, and include but are not limited to: Web, Mobile, Cloud, Big Data, IoT, Wearables, Security, AI, Robotics, and Machine Learning. Anything missing from the list? We are open to suggestions and you can contact us at contact@devtalks.ro.

2016 Agenda

This year’s Agenda covers the top computing topics with a focus on the Transition to 2020 and how the developers should prepare for that. We feature 4 stages: a main stage, Transition to 2020, where we will discuss the tech predictions for 2020. This stage can cover a broad range of topics and technologies on both software and hardware development.

On our Web stage we will discuss different web frameworks and technologies and we will see how the web still maintains its popularity despite the ever-growing number of mobile users.

The Mobile stage will feature topics related to the 3 main mobile platforms: iOS, Android and Windows and popular tools and frameworks used by developers nowadays.

On our Infrastructure of Internet stage we will cover a broad range of topics on cloud, big data and security. With the rapid development of IoT, the amount of data will pose serious issues, not only when it comes to storage and analytics, but when it comes to securing our data as well.

We want to help

If you are not sure what topic you should choose or how you can better prepare for DevTalks we can help you with suggestions. We already have some speech proposals in our Agenda on the DevTalks site. But we are open to other suggestions as well.

Why you should apply

If you get selected as a speaker at DevTalks, you will get:

  • The chance to interact with a vast audience with high profile and technical experience
  • 5 free passes for your friends and collegues
  • You will have your travel (only for speakers coming for Europe) and accommodation expenses covered
  • You will be invited to a dinner with all the other speakers

The selection process

Here is how we will pick the talks:

  • Step one: Anonym submission. The team who will review and pick from the submitted proposals will only have access to the name and description of the proposals. We are doing this in order to avoid any biases. Also, since we are trying to diversify the speaker lineup, we hope that this will reassure the speakers that we will not discriminate between genders and races.
  • Step two: de-anonymizing the submission. Unfortunately, we can only cover travel expenses for speakers who come from Europe. In order to make our final picks we will de-anonymize the speakers’ details. Of course, if you or your company is able to cover the costs, we are more than happy to have you.

Guidelines

All talks should be technical and all talks should be in English.

Keynotes should be 20 minutes long, including the Q&As. Additionally, we can give you a little extra time, but only if you are going to have a live demo. For this, we will personally discuss with you the details of the presentation. We would also like you to be involved in panels as well (15 minutes per speaker).

We would like to see original topics. We want to keep the content we offer very fresh, so speeches that were presented many times in the past or topics that are just not applicable anymore aren’t on our list.

Final thoughts

We want to tell you in advance that all talks will be recorded and published for free on the internet along with the presentation support and live demo. Of course, you retain full ownership of your slides and recording, so we would like to ask you to make these materials available under a creative commons or other open source license.

With this being said, you can apply for our CFP here.
