DevHacks – What do you want the future to look like? 3 hackathons about diversity, climate change and technical education

4 November 2021 devHacks

In November, young IT professionals and technology enthusiasts are invited to participate online in DevHacks – a series of 3 hackathons that focus on the intersection between technology and the current needs of society.

Part of the DevTalks Romania umbrella, DevHacks 2021 will bring a series of dedicated mentors from the IT industry, who will lead the teams to a final product, through guidance and support throughout the 24-hour competition. At the end of each hackathon, the teams will present their applications to the jury of experts in the field.

The series of virtual events is based on teamwork, which should result in sustainable ideas that can be implemented in the community.

The DevHacks concept aims to bring together teams eager to meet the challenge of creating a better world, offering ideas and solutions that can impact society every day.

The DevHacks agenda is organized as follows:

  • November 5 – 6: Climate Change Hackathon powered by Systematic,
  • November 19 – 20: TechEdu Hackathon powered by MassMutual Romania,
  • November 26 – 27: Diversity Hackathon powered by Harman.

In all fields, varied ideas and projects are needed, so that this year the hackathons target teams of participants from Romania and the Republic of Moldova, with an emphasis on Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Timisoara, Iasi, Brasov, Chisinau.

“The IT community is invited to take part in the change, to create lines of code and, at the same time, to win awards for their work. Therefore, by combining the passion for technology with the desire of the participants to contribute with valuable ideas that can bring improvements in climate change, technical education, but also in terms of diversity, we expect to generate a positive impact in the community and outline actions that succeed to be preserved and implemented in society. Through these workshops, we aim to give a voice to technology enthusiasts – hackers, developers, designers, freelancers, entrepreneurs and students – to discuss and implement IT solutions. Larisa Dima, DevHacks Project Manager

DevHacks series of events gives the opportunity to teams to generate ideas born out of passion for this field, as well as a way to inspire the community to have such initiatives through the proposed projects.

In addition, participation in DevHacks is free and the first three teams that will meet the challenge of creating applications and solutions from scratch, which can contribute through a positive impact on society, will be awarded.
