When and where and what about DevCon?
At this edition, DevCon will take place online, inspired by our largest expo-conference organized in Romania this June, DevTalks Reimagined.
DevCon 2020 is a one-month concept with a mix of events happening in November, designed around 4 series of one-theme online tech conferences, workshops, and hackathons that will put in the spotlight the hottest trends & technologies of the moment for the local IT community in Romania.
For this November, we are happy to announce our stages: Java, JavaScript, Web&Mobile, Cybersecurity & first speakers for each stage:
Josh Long – (@starbuxman) has (officially) been a Spring developer advocate since 2010. Josh is a Java Champion, author of six books (including Cloud Native Java: Designing Resilient Systems with Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and Cloud Foundry (O’Reilly Media, 2017) and the upcoming (self-published) Reactive Spring, as well as the creator of numerous best-selling training videos, including Building Microservices with Spring Boot Livelessons with Spring Boot co-founder Phil Webb.
Jack Shirazi – works in the Reliability Engineering team at Expedia Group. He is the founder of JavaPerformanceTuning.com and author of Java Performance Tuning (O’Reilly), and has been an official Java Champion since 2005.
Edson Yanaga – Red Hat’s Director of Developer Experience, is a Java Champion and a Microsoft MVP. He is also a published author and a frequent speaker at international conferences, discussing Java, Microservices, Cloud Computing, DevOps, and Software Craftsmanship.
Mark Heckler – is a Professional Problem Solver and Spring Developer & Advocate at VMware, conference speaker, published author, & Java Champion focusing upon developing innovative production-ready software at velocity for the Cloud. He has worked with key players in the manufacturing, retail, medical, scientific, telecom, and financial industries and various public sector organizations to develop and deliver critical capabilities on time and on budget. Mark is an open source contributor and author/curator of a developer-focused blog (Hecklers in Development, brewing stronger Java) and an occasionally interesting Twitter account (@mkheck).
Minko Gechev – is an engineer in the Angular team at Google. For the past years, he has been building open source tools for static analysis, libraries, and frameworks. Before joining Google, he was a co-founder and CTO at the EdTech company Rhyme.com, which in 2019 was acquired by Coursera.
Juan Herrera is a Google Developer Expert in Angular and Software Developer at Parkside. He enjoys public speaking, MCing, and writing. At Parkside he constantly advocates for a culture of engineering excellence and frontend proficiency.

Nicola Corti – has been an Android Software Engineer since 2.2, and a Free and Open Source lover for as long as he remembers. He’s currently working as an Android Infrastructure Engineer at Spotify, building the audio experience for millions of Android users worldwide.
Patrick Meenan – has been working on web performance in one form or another for the last 20 years and worked at Facebook, Cloudflare, Google and AOL to make the web faster. Patrick created the popular open source WebPagetest web performance measurement tool, runs the free instance of it at WebPagetest.org, and can frequently be found in the forums helping site owners understand and improve their website performance.
Bojan Ždrnja – is the Chief Technical Officer leading the penetration testing team at INFIGO IS, a security company based in Croatia. After graduating in 2002, Bojan moved to New Zealand where he worked as a security officer at the University of Auckland. Bojan holds numerous security certifications and is a SANS Certified Instructor where he teaches the SEC542: Web App Penetration Testing and Ethical Hacking course.
Alexandre Borges – is a Director and Cyber Security Researcher at Blackstorm Security, who has been daily working on Reverse Engineering and Digital Forensic Analysis for many years. He has taught training courses about Malware and Memory Analysis, Digital Forensics Analysis and Mobile Reversing and Forensics around the world.
